Getting the best job in a tough economy

While no one has been able to predict the economy’s next move, one thing is certain: the job market is more challenging today than it has been in a decade. New jobs are few and far between, and the marketplace is swamped with newly laid-off executives competing with experienced professionals. And while Internet sites boast thousands of open positions, the vast majority of jobs are still in the “hidden” market.
A new seminar, launching this September in Chicago, will provide job-seekers the tools and techniques to navigate this difficult landscape. Hosted by experienced recruiter and career consultant Bonnie Miller and success coaching expert Ron Oesterlein, the three-hour session will address the most challenging aspects of the job search, including:
• The 10 most difficult interview questions—and how to answer them.
• What measurement factors are being used during the interview? How are you really being evaluated?
• How to make networking fun and pleasant.
• Winning résumé techniques, and why the cover letter and follow-up letter are just as important in the age of Internet communication.
• “Owning the offer”: negotiating a compensation package that won’t sell yourself short.
Additionally, participants will benefit from one-on-one follow-up sessions that include professional résumé consultation, motivational coaching support, and networking guidelines.
The initial seminar date is: Friday, Sept. 20, 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Additional seminars are Oct. 10, Oct. 24, Nov. 14, Nov. 21, Dec. 5, Dec. 12, each from 7 to 10 p.m. In addition, there will be seminars Oct. 12, Oct. 26, Nov. 16, Nov. 23, Dec. 7, and Dec. 14, each from 9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
All seminars will be held at Ann Sather Restaurant, 929 W. Belmont Ave. , (773) 348-2378, on the second floor.
Included in the $120 registration fee are all materials and handouts during the session, follow-up résumé evaluation and a 15-minute one-on-one coaching session with Ron Oesterlein.
For more details or to register for any dates call Bonnie Miller at Eastwood Associates, (847) 564-2946, or Ron Oesterlein at (847) 361-6210. Attendees who register within 48 hours of the seminar date will receive a $10 discount. Additional registration will be taken at the door.
