A proposal to change the zoning to allow a Best Buy in a manufacturing area on Elston Ave. from Fullerton to Webster avenues has raised the ire of the Bucktown Community Organization (BCO).
The BCO called a special meeting of their planning and zoning committee to address the issue directly with Ald. Ted Matlak (32nd) on Saturday, Oct. 12. The executive board received recommendations from their planning and zoning committee and will act at the next executive board meeting. The executive board is expected to issue a strong recommendation for a community hearing be held as soon as possible to discuss the issue prior to its going to City Council for a final vote on Nov. 6.
Community representatives felt left out of Ald. William Banks (36th) planning and zoning committee decisions on Thursday, Oct. 11, because the community had no knowledge or notice of the action. |
