Short section of Berwyn gives access to Bowmanville

Last week Berwyn Ave. became two ways in the short stretch from Western Ave. east to Bowmanville Ave.
There is a new stop sign and a barricade on Berwyn Ave. at Bowmanville Ave. just east of the Berwyn and Western avenue traffic signal. This forces eastbound driver onto Bowmanville Ave. going northeast. At this point, Berwyn Ave. becomes a one-way going west. Some neighbors are concerned that the change will increase traffic and pose a safety hazard for children and pets.
The change allows emergency vehicles access to the Bowmanville community. Since District 20 has moved from the old police station at 1940 W. Foster Ave., to the new station on Lincoln Ave. at Catalpa Ave., the only route into the community had been via Foster Ave. or the round about way on Peterson Ave. to Ravenswood Ave. The new station is now called Lincoln Station. |
