Astor St. armed home invasion triggers community alert

The Chicago Police Department has issued a community alert after an armed robbery occurred in the 1400 block of N. Astor St. on Wednesday, Jan. 15, at 8:30 p.m.
The three offenders knocked on the door to a residence and, when it was opened, forced themselves inside at gun and knife point. The offenders demanded money and diamonds. One victim attempted to fight with the offenders but was struck on the head with the butt of the handgun.
Another victim tried to trip the alarm system but was struck and stabbed with a knife. The offenders fled with an undisclosed amount of money. The victims were treated at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and released.
The three offenders were: a black male, in his late teens, 5’6” to 5’8”, 135 to 150 lb., with a dark complexion, possible braids/sideburns, wearing dark pants, and a dark waist length jacket; A black male, in his late teens, 5’9”, with a thin build, wearing a tight fitting nylon stocking cap and a heavy sweater; A black female, mid to late teens, 5’3” to 5’5”, with a heavy build, wearing a dark windbreaker, burgundy sweater, and dark pants.
The police alert cautioned that these alleged offenders are armed and dangerous. Any information should be given to Area Three Robbery, Burglary, Theft Crimes Unit at (312) 744-8263.
