In light of the continuous efforts to revoke the liquor licenses on Granville and Winthrop avenues, a new group has been formed by the Edgewater Community Council (ECC) to show potential developers how residents, business owners and community members want Granville Ave. from Broadway to the Lake developed. Entitled the Granville Task Force, the group has published a 27-page booklet titled “The Granville Campus Neighborhood Plan,” which tells about the historical and cultural assets of the area and gives a list of what residents, business and property owners desire for their neighborhood.
“If [Sun and Granville] liquor stores go, we will see major changes for the street. The street has enormous potential. It has cultural institutions extending from Broadway to the Lake,” said Marty Goldsmith, executive director of Edgewater Development Corporation.
Copies of the Granville Plan are available to the public at the Edgewater Community Council office at 6044 N. Broadway.
