South East Lake View Neighbors (SELVN) will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 24, in Wellington Avenue Church, 615 W. Wellington Ave. (basement meeting room). The major topic will be the lakefront revetments. Steel fences now have shut off access to the lake and almost all of Lincoln Park from Belmont to Fullerton avenues, with the exception of the southern half of the stretch between Belmont and Diversey avenues.
At the March 6 community meeting called by Ald. Tom Tunney (44th), some 80 attendees unanimously voted to seek delay of this construction work for consideration of alternative designs. If you prefer something other than the concrete-runway design now in place north of Belmont Ave., you can convey your views in advance of the meeting to Ald. Tunney at ttunney@cityofchicago.org.
